Missions

Amazing Grace connects with people around the world by going on mission trips.  These trips often bring Amazing Grace people to another part of the world to provide a service or something that is greatly needed.  But the same trips also give Amazing Grace a greater appreciation for other cultures, for the faith of other Christians, and a greater sense of responsibility as citizens of the earth.  Relationships and partnerships are created and strengthened as a result.

2005: San Pedro, Guatemala

In partnership with St. Mark's Lutheran Church and with Proyecto Fe, twelve people from Amazing Grace spent ten days in the small village of San Pedro, Guatemala.  They worked at the village clinic and provide needed medical supplies and school supplies to the orphanage and school in the village.  Proyecto Fe's partnership has also allowed them to bring copies of the Bible on audio tape in the native language of the Guatemalan people.  This is the first time the Bible has been translated into their language!

The Amazing Grace youth have also decided to sponsor a Guatemalan child and are selling Guatemalan coffee as an opportunity for Amazing Grace to support the farmers and craftspeople of Guatemala.  While in Guatemala, the group from Amazing Grace was able to meet, work, play, and worship with the Mayan people of the village.  The relationships and friendships that blossomed are the true fruit of this mission trip!

2004: Brevig Mission, Alaska

A group of people from Amazing Grace journeyed to Brevig Mission on the Seward Peninsula of Alaska to teach a week of Vacation Bible School to the children of the village.  Ten days before they were scheduled to depart, the church building they were supposed to stay in caught fire and was burned to the ground!  But the group forged ahead and the mission proved successful.  This mission trip was a major component of IP Lisa's project while she was at Amazing Grace.
