Mission Opportunities
Every Sunday, Amazing Grace
publishes a list of ways you can become involved in our
mission of service and caring--to each other, to
Anchorage, to Alaska, to the world. As children of
God and the body of Christ, we are inheritors of God's
amazing generosity and seek healing and wholeness in our
world. This page is
designed to help you learn more about the ongoing
opportunities we have for serving others.

F.I.S.H. Needs You!
The food pantry that serves 100,000 hungry people in
Anchorage each year NEEDS VOLUNTEERS. If you would like to find out more
about our 3 to 4 hours, once-a-month volunteer opportunities, call Rhea
Evans at 344-4317. We need folks who can make telephone calls (from
home), pack groceries in the pantry, make deliveries to hungry
neighbors, or shop to stock the pantry. The need is critical if we are
to continue to meet the FISH mission: to deliver emergency food aid
to people in Anchorage, by responding to a call for help through a
network of volunteers. Please consider this volunteer opportunity.
Donations are always welcome payable to F.I.S.H., PO Box 111443,
Anchorage, AK 99511

HELP SUPPORT
CLARE HOUSE
Amazing Grace has strong mission ties
with Clare House. Clare House is an exemplary homeless shelter for
women and children, and is run by Catholic Social Services. Amazing
Grace provides an evening meal for Clare House residents every
fourth Sunday. On the third Sunday of each month, a menu with
sign-up spaces is hung in the narthex and an announcement is made
during all services. People can then choose to sign up for whatever
dinner items they care to provide. Many of the items (milk, juice,
can of coffee, etc.) do not even require preparation! A reminder
sheet is given and the dinner items can be conveniently brought to
church on the fourth Sunday. Please remember to mark those your
items "Clare House," so they get to the appropriate place. The
Clare House mission team will then deliver the dinner to Clare House
after the second service. If you wish to be involved with the
delivery, please
contact the church office and your note will be forwarded to the
delivery team.
OUTREACH FOR EVERY DAY
Containers in the hall coat area are available for donating food and
clothing to Lutheran Social Services, Clare House and FISH.
Non-perishable groceries and toiletries are always welcome. Our church
has been assigned to provide dried milk for FISH (a volunteer group that
delivers groceries to people).
Please purchase a few extra items for these charities the next time you
shop for groceries. A clothing box for Value Village, which also
benefits LSSA clients, is in the hallway.
